What’s your background?
I studied Sociology at The University of Sheffield, before going on to qualify as a Professional Indemnity Lawyer.
I am now Legal Counsel, dealing with all aspects of Professional Indemnity for the UK LLP, as well as being involved with the delivery of the firm's worldwide Enterprise Risk Management programme.
Why did you choose to work here ?
I was attracted not just by the fantastic office space in Birmingham or the cake; but by the friendliness and enthusiasm of the people I met during the recruitment process, the emphasis on corporate responsibility, the firm's reputation for innovation, and the exciting plans for growing its international footprint.
What was the recruitment process like?
I had an informal coffee with a member of the resourcing team in order to find out more about the role and the firm. I then had two interviews before being offered the role. The process was straightforward, transparent and flexible, and I was kept well-informed at each stage.
What makes Gowling WLG different to other firms?
My experience has been that life here is what you make it. If you are committed and driven, you will be given many opportunities to develop and get involved in different things, in the knowledge that you will be fully supported along the way. The culture here is one of openness and encouragement.
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about working here?
When you pass your probationary period, the firm plants a tree!
What do you do outside work?
When I'm not tending to the demands of my very needy cats, I like to keep fit and go to the gym before work. This in the hope that it will balance out the eating out which I enjoy!
I love foreign travel and am a real sun-seeker (the hotter the better). I am also a governor at a local primary school.
