Your development will start on your very first day and will continue for however long you stay with us – and we will support your progress every step of the way. Formal and on-the-job training will keep your skills sharp and relevant, and you will build your experience on a day-to-day basis through fascinating and career-enhancing work.

This is not 'business as usual'. We're going through an exciting phase as a firm right now and need much more than just intellectual strength. Our lawyers grow and learn quickly through a combination of high quality formal learning, peer and leader support and real responsibility and accountability.

We have a number of core programmes to support your career progression

Newly qualified

'Launchpad' is our programme for newly qualified solicitors. It prepares you for the next step in your career – which is to make it to associate. We run a two-day programme covering everything from basic law firm economics to building client relationships (with everything in between). Six months later there's a follow-up during which you'll reflect on what you've learned and show off your new skills and experience!


As an associate you’ll receive ongoing training and development, along with opportunities for international or client secondments as your career progresses. We'll develop your skills in business development, client relationship management and as a supervisor.  

Senior Associate

By the time you've made it to senior associate you'll be a 'pro' (proficient and proactive) at driving coordinated business development campaigns in conjunction with partners, and at managing and getting the very best out of your team. You should also be looking at progressing to director at this stage.


Our director development centre is a two-day programme which allows you to assess your strengths and development needs through 360º feedback and team activity, and asks you to 'action plan' your promotion to director.


We've developed a tailored induction for you once you've made it to partner, which will continue to grow your people, business and practice management skills, as well as your leadership and business development skills. We’ll also assign a coach to you for six months to help you map out your new role, understand what's different and start to think about what's important for future success.
